WHAT IS PUNK?
It was John Holmstrom's magazine, stupid

We here at CREEM are never wrong. Okay, rarely. Like truly every once in a while. Definitely not THAT often. Maybe here and there and a couple other times. But CREEM does believe in righting our wrongs when they occur. Which happens, on occasion. Rarely.
This is one of those cases.
In 1975, CREEM rejected some illustrations submitted by 20-year-old John Holmstrom. Taking it in stride, Holmstrom founded Punk magazine. “I was rejected,” says Holmstrom flatly. “Oh yeah, I sent my cartoons in. I wish I’d gotten a rejection slip on a letterhead, but I didn’t.”
