The Song Remains The Same

(Warner Bros.)

by Robert Duncan

I’ve always thought that Jimmy Page was a heavy dude. Cinematically speaking, in the movie The Song Remains The Same, his heaviness really shows through. In this movie, which deals with a Led Zep concert in ‘73, mixed with some of the things they think about, Jimmy is playing the solo with the violin bow in “Dazed and Confused” when all of a sudden he’s climbing a mountain at night! A mountain! Rock! (Wait a second—maybe that’s a symbolization of getting your rocks off? Or, my friends say, rock ‘n’ roll. Yeah, right, OK. Rock 'n' roll.) That’s all right, but the good stuff is that he’s doing it in full velvets. He doesn’t care. He throws away more velvets every day than you wear in a year!
