LETTER FROM BRITAIN

One of the nice things about writing this column is that I never have time to find out what's going on. I take things as they come and so, for example, it was only after I'd written about the Sex Pistols for six successive months that I realised they were significant and by then they weren't anymore anyway.

LETTER FROM BRITAIN

This Is The Modern World

by Simon Frith

One of the nice things about writing this column is that I never have time to find out what's going on. I take things as they come and so, for example, it was only after I'd written about the Sex Pistols for six successive months that I realised they were significant and by then they weren't anymore anyway. Month by month nothing happens to me. It's only afterwards that I realise what did, and so it has only been this month (which I spent catching up with what came out while we were on our hols) that I found out that 1978 isn't 1977, and rock is still fashionable.
