ROLLING STONES 1981 UPDATE

What the Rolling Stones have to offer in 1981 is—at presstime, at least—a trifle uncertain.

October 2, 1981

By the time you read this, you may be holding in your hot little hands a copy of Tattoo You. the latest LP by the band. Atlantic Records have announced an August 28th release date for the set, but when you're talking about the Rolling Stones, since when does that mean anything?

CREEM has obtained the line-up of tunes to appear on Tattoo You. however, and these are very definite. The full program, as we have it:

SIDE ONE

1) Start Me Up

2) Hang Fire

3) Slave

4) Little T&A

SIDE TWO

1) Worried About You

2) Tops

3) Heaven

5) Black Limousine 4) No Use In Crying

6) Neighbours

5) Waiting On A Friend

All the tunes were written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, exceptions being "Black Limousine” and "No Use In Crying,” which both share Jagger/Richard/Ron Wood credits.

How does it sound? Sources at Atlantic say very much like "old Stones”—from the late 60's, early 70’s. Lots of "funk." too. Also announced is the first single: "Start Me Up.” Tattoo You’s opening track.

The Big Question, though, remains. A 1981 Rolling Stones Tour. Will it happen?

No one seems to know.
