Wed. 9:05 a.m. Awakened by gunfire. Stumble to window. Disturbance is at far end of street. Local vice lord apparently extinguished. Back to bed.
10:15. Awakened again by school children on recess from Our Lady Of Pompeii Academy. Chants of “Edouard Is Odd” and “Dauphin—Dope Man.” Smother head in pillow till recess bell rings. Back to sleep.
10:50. Doorbell. Shipment of illegal absinthe arrives from Montreal. Crate has been pried open, Parcel Post driver stinks of liquor and is hallucinating giant escargot in my vestibule. Sign for package and kick him down front steps.
11: Jessica Walter is a passenger on Love Boat. Decide to take no calls for next hour.
12:30. Interview Iggy Pop.
