THE GUILLOTINE, PLEASE

Talk about your great moments in broadcasting.

Talk about your great moments in broadcasting. It’s somewhere after midnight on September 21 on the MTV channel, and the scheduledfor-two-hours live airing of the First Annual MTV Video Music Awards presentation is lumbering into what promises to be both a lengthy and decidedly un-sudden death overtime. As part of the stations’ ongoing commitment to bring you, the consumer...er, you, the viewer, “Up close and behind the scenes” at “important” events (like at the US Festival, remember? I mean, wasn’t it simply unbelievable that you got to see the Police hanging out backstage mere seconds before they went out to perform and theft got to see them all sweated up and exhausted mere seconds after they’d finished performing? Don’t tell me you actually wanted to see them play, now did you?), the MTVJ’s have spent most of the evening circulating amongst the riff and raff attending the Radio City Music Hall ceremonies, and it seems only fitting that, with the witching hour now at hand, we get a glimpse of Nina “What Do You Mean You Blinked And Missed My Appearance In Vice Squad” Blackwood engaged in an “informal chat” with none other than Carly Simon.
