The Church are one of Australia’s finest rock bands. Formed six years ago, the band has produced numerous records, although their success in America has been minimal. This may be changing, however, with the release of the band’s most recent LP, Heyday, their first record to hit Billboard’s Top 100.

The Church are one of Australia’s finest rock bands. Formed six years ago, the band has produced numerous records, although their success in America has been minimal. This may be changing, however, with the release of the band’s most recent LP, Heyday, their first record to hit Billboard’s Top 100. Two recent successful American tours (the first with Echo & The Bunnymen and the second on their own) didn’t hurt matters any, either. ROCK-SHOTS recently had the pleasure of speaking to the Church’s lead theologian, singer and bass player, Steve Kilbey, in Detroit.
“I guess we sort of bring the ‘psychedelic’ tag upon ourselves. The paisley shirts on the Heyday cover are really supposed to be kind of an irony.
