CREEM'S "PICKS" FOR '87
In what we’re hoping will be an annual event—following the tradition of Christmas, taxes and influenza—CREEM is happy to choose its picks for ’87. What this amounts to is an editorial consensus (and you shoulda heard the screaming going on in the Birmingham offices) of the most interesting bands to watch out for in ’87.

Most of these bands made their initial splash last year with albums or shows that promise a lot for the future. We originally had a list so long it could’ve filled the entire magazine, but we eventually had to narrow it down to 10, meaning that some of our picks for the “most interesting” had to be eliminated. This means the dropping of such strong acts as David + David, the Raunch Hands, the Ben Vaughn Combo, That Petrol Emotion, Camper Van Beethoven, the Go-Betweens and even Steely Dan (who’ll soon be releasing a new LP), the Replacements or the Monkees (seriously!), simply because we had to limit it with some kind of guidelines, namely editorial opinion and consensus (and tyranny). Basically, we’re all still a’waitin’ the feisty reunion of the mighty Belfegore...
