We’d like to start things off this month by sending out a Video Video salute to selected members of our reading audience. To qualify, all you need to have done is to have survived all three-and-ahalf hours of the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards telecast on September 5th. What? That few of you? Oh, well, I understand. They say the Oscars is by far the most exasperatingly tedious broadcast event abounding, but three short years, MTV’s awards show has already established itself as a force—of boredom, that is—truly to be reckoned with.
