PETER WOLF

When Peter Wolf left the J. Geils Band several years ago, many people wondered exactly what kind of fate the lead singer would meet in his solo career. Of course, Wolf had always been the voice behind the Geils Band, but J. Geils was still the name that everyone knew.

The surprise was that the J. Geils Band’s post-Wolf LP didn’t do very well at all. Wolf’s first solo LP, on the other hand, received accolades from both the critics and listening public alike. Lights Out was co-produced with Wolf by Bostonian Michael Jonzun of Tommy Boy Records fame, and it was one the finest slabs of commercial-white-pop-meetsblack-soul that’s hit the record market during the '80s. Including all kinds of stuff, from reggae meets funk to Motown updates, the album made it onto many “Best Of" lists in 1984.
