STRYPER

Few would’ve suspected that someday a band could combine hard rock and a big image with spreading the Christian gospel—but Stryper have done it in a big way.

The Californian quartet, led by brothers Michael and Robert Sweet (and managed by their mom), started slowly, built a dedicated following, and then captured considerable commercial success with their most recent album, To Hell With The Devil. The LP went gold, and with it came national attention (and notoriety) for the born-again band.

True to their faith, Stryper take credit for little of their success: “I think it’s obvious where we get our lyrics from,” says lead singer/guitarist Michael Sweet. “They know we're getting everything from the Bible. It’s common sense to any person that we believe in Jesus Christ and where is Jesus Christ found? He’s found in the Bible.”
