KASHER'S FAVORITE SLASHERS
The Cursive frontman talks horror movies and his new creeper film Who's Watching?

"It’s not regarded as one of the film greats, but after seeing the Gremlins melt into bubbling goo at the end of Gremlins 2, I had nightmares about that nebulous dreck for years,” says Cursive frontman Tim Kasher when asked about his favorite scene of cinematic gore. To some, it’s the most important part of a horror film—just how disgusting or innovative is your big kill? Kasher throws in one more for good measure: "That scene in Teeth when the guy gets his penis bitten off and they show the bitten penis on the ground just before a dog grabs it and trots away.”
Why all the horror, bubbling ooze, and dismemberment talk with an indie/posthardcore legend? Kasher invites it. His love of horror has led to Who’s Watching?, a new film written and directed by Kasher and currently seeking distribution. Using a mix of found footage, POV, surveillance video, and more, Who’s Watching? skewers and deconstructs the stalker film, breathing new life into the genre with unexpected left turns in its 86-minute running time. Since CREEM knows a thing or two about horror movies, we figured a deep dive into Tim Kasher’s favorites was in order.
