Viagra Boys aren’t a joke, but Sebastian Murphy is happy to play one on stage

You know a punk band is good when the frontman, unprompted, slams Elon Musk two minutes into their interview.
Such is the case with Sebastian Murphy, the heavily tattooed and otherwise amiable frontman of Swedish rabble-rousers Viagra Boys, who uses a question about his tendency to make fun of free-floating cultural stupidity to say that “if there’s one person in the world that I fucking hate more than anything and that I get riled up when I think about him, it’s Elon Musk,” his ire visibly rising even from a Zoom screen. “I hate him way more than Donald Trump. And any news about that fucking dipshit I see just ruins my day.”
Also, you know a punk band is great when the frontman shows their support for the embattled people of Gaza just five minutes into their interview; he’ll later note approvingly that there are “free Palestine marches every single day” in the streets of his neighborhood.
