THE CRIME OF FATE

The tragedy of the Gits and the triumph of Frenching the Bully

January 1, 2025
Jerry A. Lang

I want to talk about a crime—the murder of a beautiful young woman that sent ripples through the pond, creating more crimes. The young woman was Mia Zapata, singer for the Seattle band the Gits. When her life ended, the band had just released their debut album, Frenching the Bully—there was other recorded material that would eventually be

released posthumously, but this was their introduction to the world. The band, of course, fell apart, never getting a chance to record again. Another crime.
