EASTER DRINKING WITH THE LEMON TWIGS

June 1, 2026
Jonathan Toubin

It’s Easter Sunday and I somehow manage to resurrect my hungover corpse and drag it all the way to Williamsburg’s Ore Bar to meet the Lemon Twigs. Like Larry David, I plan to claim a strategic seat at 5 p.m. before my tablemates arrive. But like Richard Lewis, the duo somehow beat me there. They’ve already commandeered a prime booth and are casually sipping pints like they’ve been there all day. I make my way to the bar to order, then head over to join them.

Though brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario are still in their 20s, the Lemon Twigs have already built a catalog of six LPs and more than a dozen singles in the past decade. Circumnavigating venues around the globe countless times, their tours have also brought them to practically every major music festival, most of the remaining late-night network TV shows, and on stage with their heroes. They tell me about backing Todd Rundgren with no rehearsal, or playing “She’s Not There” behind the Zombies’ Colin Blunstone, and I think about how few musicians their age—or any age, for that matter—have had these kinds of experiences.
