How the heck is 1989 the birth year of Jared James Nichols? It’s easy to envision the man driving his 1973 Chevy Nova right after taking a Nixon-era livery. Don’t we have enough silver and gray vehicles on the road? This punchy pea-green Nova is the perfect antidote. Don’t we have enough musicians under 40 who cater to those seeking club-shattering beats and TikTok content? JJN’s music carries lead-foot weight that sounds beamed in from decades ago, ready-made to be shoved into the cassette deck of this very car. As the opening track of his new record Louder Than Fate declares, “Let’s Go.” You get the idea.
