Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix on Jimi’s music and legacy

September 2, 2026
J. Bennett

Janie Hendrix is giving CREEM a guided tour of the new Jimi Hendrix exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP) in Seattle. It’s called Wild Blue Angel: Hendrix Abroad, 1966-70. As Jimi’s sister, 18 years his junior, Janie knows these hallowed rock relics well. The one-of-a-kind artifacts are impressive, even going beyond the exhibit’s theme. The cream-colored Stratocaster he played “The Star-Spangled Banner" on at Woodstock. The original mixing board from Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The iconic Western hat Jimi wore on the cover of Smash Hits. Not to mention an array of handwritten letters and lyric sheets, custom stage outfits, and a piece of the guitar he set on fire at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.
