In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s another flood going on; this one of books about rock. Both bookstores and supermarkets carry many new books on the rock scene, some are great, some are bullshit. The main problem is to keep up with all that’s available — hence the following list.

In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s another flood going on; this one of books about rock. Both bookstores and supermarkets carry many new books on the rock scene, some are great, some are bullshit. The main problem is to keep up with all that’s available — hence the following list. It’s not totally complete (various lame bios of the Beatles were omitted) but is generally an accurate listing of what’s around today. In cases where both hardcover and paper versions of a book are available only the paper is listed — hardcover books about rock seem weird somehow. Books about jazz and black music are numerous enough to warrant a whole other article — so they’re also omitted here. Comments on books are purely subjective — and I’m a pretty opinionated SOB, so if in doubt, trust your own senses.
