ROCK 'N' ROLL NEWS

Grand Funk’s new album, the just released E Pluribus Funk, is on the group’s own lable, Grand Funk Railroad. The label is designed, according to Capitol execs, as a “tribute” to the group, and doesn’t really mean anything: no other acts Will be appearing under the logo, for example.

But all future GFRR albums and singles will carry the label, which was designed by Terry Knight, the guiding light behind the group.

Incidentally, has it occured to anyone that Terry Knight and the Pack — from which Terry, Don Brewer and Mark Farner all come p recorded for Lucky 11 Records, which was a division of Cameo/ -Parkway, which was owned by — that’s right! - none other than Allen Klein?!

Freda Payne’s “Bring the Boys Home,” the great soul anti-war ballad, was banned by the Far East Network of Armed Forces Radio. And now Freda herself is jammed: Invictus is suing her to prevent her from recording and performing other than under their auspices.
