And then again, maybe Elton will... It’s A Little Bit Funny is just a little bit fatuous, but not altogether unappropriate as a Christmas offering for some deserving younger sibling who isn’t quite ready for the Sex Pistols. See Elton perform, eat, sleep, cohort with his cohorts, and more! Add some color around your cat’s litter box! From Penguin Books.

Could it be Brad Benedict and Linda Barton instead, who have come up with Phonographies (Macmillan), a large glossy book of what they term the best album cover art produced in the 60’s and 70’s. The rather obnoxious assumption, stated in the Introduction outright, is that all pre-Reuolver album covers were garbage. The cover art on 50’s and jazz albums is dismissed as pink and black bowling alley art, which is idiotic. But even the period from ’66 to the present is inadequately represented, as there are no Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, or Yes covers, and putting what’s inside aside, they deserve to be included.
