RAMONES Rocket To Russia (Sire)

I don’t know how many people caught the Ramones on Don Kirshner’s NEW Rock Concert (as opposed to just plain old Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. The only difference I can see is that Billy Preston isn’t on every other week anymore). There they were, sandwiched between the usual poo-poo caa-caa comedians (maybe next year they will exile Mule Deer to Marty Brillsville and they can call it the NEW, IMPROVED Rock Concert) and The Ohio Players (Kirsh baby really knows how to mix ’em up). Anyway, right near the end of actual, bona fide, go to the neighborhood crazy’s house and have him take out the Betamax if you don’t believe me ’cause I know you won’t, riff!!! Yes, a fill, lasting no more than two seconds in length, six notes at the most, but a real, real riff. Take that, you threechords and a prayer sluffer offers. Yes, I know about “California Sun”, but we must exclude it ’cause it’s a cover and these boys do their covers faithfully.
