Rick Wakeman's New Christmas-Ecology Rock Opera (A Scenario)

Once upon a time — I think it was on a Thursday a week before Christmas on a cold and snowy night — the stars reflected brightly on the snow already fallen as a baby reindeer was born. His name was Buddy. And, not far away, Mother Nature had caused yet another miracle to occur: a sapling named Maurice poked his tiny, leafy head above the frozen soil. The baby reindeer — the largest I’d ever seen — grew rapidly and with plenty of spunk and moxie. The tree grew, too. And that was good.

One afternoon — I think it was a Tuesday — while sauntering through the woods white with the sun, Buddy nearly ran smack-dab into Maurice, who had become a handsome and sturdy oak.

“Well, hello there, Mister Tree!”

“Well, hello there, Little Reindeer! Isn’t it a lovely day? And what a lovely set of budding antlers you have! Wouldn’t you love to rub them up against my bark? It will make them strong and hard.”
