Lester Bangs ‘Detroit Sucks’ Photo T-Shirt

$40

Fan Club Price: $32

America’s greatest rock critic Lester Bangs moved to Detroit in 1971 to write for CREEM. He grew to detest Detroit as much as he begrudgingly loved it, calling it both “rock’s only hope,” and “home of the world’s ugliest people.”

  • Unisex sizing, lean fit
  • 100% ring-spun and compacted cotton
  • Garment dyed and silk washed
  • Made in America

Boy Howdy! may be CREEM’s mascot, but Lester Bangs remains the heart and sin-stained soul. Funny, rude, whacked-out but always sharp, Bangs honed his signature fast-and-loose style at the magazine from 1970-1976, deploying the language, rhythms, and riffs of the music he bled for, like a greased-up uzi.

We love a stiff, scratchy concert tee as much as the next guy, but these aren’t it. Our tees feature re-editions of CREEM classics printed on soft, silk-washed cotton, so it looks new, but feels like it’s already been washed a hundred times.
